Reliable, lab-grade water testing with smart connectivity for efficient, accurate, and compliant results. Deliver consistent results and avoid surprises with a trusted instrument designed for dependable performance, seamless workflow integration, and precision in every test. When accurate results can’t be compromised, water professionals trust the DR3900 Laboratory Spectrophotometer. It is a visible spectrum spectrophotometer (320 to 1100nm), providing the range needed for a wide variety of water analysis applications. Known for its reliability and consistent performance, the DR3900 helps build confidence in every measurement — helping you avoid unexpected surprises and deliver data you can stand behind.

Simple preparation: The boxes and cuvettes are colour-coded for fast and easy parameter and range recognition. Step-by-step illustrated test methods are printed on the box as quick reference or can be called up in the instrument menu. The DR3900 spectrophotometer uses RFID technology to enable reliable communication with the sample taker and the samples. Simply hold the bottle label in front of the RFID sensor. When evaluating the cuvette test, use the tool bar on the touchscreen to assign the result to the sample.

Fast execution: A 2D barcode on the LCK cuvettes is automatically read by the Hach DR spectrophotometer to identify the appropriate method and take the measurement. The vial spins to take 10-fold absorbance readings that will be averaged for result determination to exclude scratches and fingerprints. Instrument calibration verification and high instrument stability all combine to eliminate the need to run reagent blanks.

Comprehensive documentation: Measurement results are documented on the detailed level with timestamp, operator ID, absorbance reading, and calculated concentration. The 2D barcode delivers the batch number and expiry date, logged with every result. For your accreditation the certificate of analysis can be called up just by swiping the reagent box towards the RFID sensor.

Customisable: With the ability to store hundreds of user-determined methods, operators are able to tailor the DR3900 to meet the everyday needs of the plant. Being able to optimise and customise the method portfolio, combined with regular software updates and Claros connectivity, makes the DR3900 the ultimate solution to water quality lab needs.

  • Dependability in every test: Advanced optics minimise the risk of errors, providing stable, repeatable results — even with everyday glassware issues
  • Trusted by experts: Proven performance in water quality analysis means your team can rely on the DR3900 for regulatory and operational needs year after year
  • Compliance made simple: Automatic data logging and robust result tracking support regulatory reporting and quality assurance, reducing the risk of missing key records
  • Fewer surprises, more control: Pre-programmed methods and guided workflows help minimize user mistakes, making each analysis predictable and efficient
  • Easy for all experience levels: Clear touchscreen instructions and user-friendly design let your team deliver consistent results, regardless of who is running the test
  • Supports busy labs: Durable and compact, the DR3900 is ready for continuous use, handling the demands of high-volume testing
